For Asheville artists & makers

We build a system that clears out the busy work. Then it's all yours, so you can focus on the craft you love.

Run the business instead of being the business.

Your system answers inquiries, books studio visits, keeps your books, and follows up on invoices, all in your own accounts, with you in charge.

You didn't start making things to answer email at 10 p.m.

A woodworker's hands guiding a hand plane along a board

A client asks about a custom dining table while you're mid-cut at the table saw. A builder wants a cabinet estimate by Friday. A customer still owes the balance on last month's bookshelf. Lumber and hardware receipts pile up for tax time, and the deadline to apply for the spring craft fair slips by.

You're not alone. In one national survey, artists said about a quarter of their working week goes to admin, around 12 hours (Anonymous Was A Woman, 2025). More than half of small businesses have invoices more than 30 days overdue (QuickBooks, 2026). And people who reach out don't wait: businesses that reply within an hour are nearly 7× more likely to have a real conversation with the lead than those that wait even an hour longer (Harvard Business Review).

Already up and running? We keep the tools that already work for you and build in the missing pieces. Moving old systems over to new ones is a separate cleanup project.

What your system takes off your plate

Everything runs in your accounts, you have the final say, and you can see everything that goes out under your name.

Inquiries & calls

Every email, form and voicemail gets a quick, friendly reply and lands on one list, so no commission request goes cold.

Scheduling

Studio visits, commissions, classes and jobs booked onto your calendar, plus reminders for shows, markets and call-for-entry deadlines.

Getting paid

Invoices sent on time, polite payment reminders, and a clear list of who still owes you.

Bookkeeping

Income and expenses recorded, sales tracked across studio, shows, galleries and online, sales-tax reminders, and a tidy year-end package for your accountant. If you're switching banks, we set up the new account with a small opening deposit, and you move the larger balances yourself, so your money never passes through us.

Customer & collector list

Contacts kept up to date, thank-you notes and newsletters written and sent in your voice.

Marketing

The same proven marketing principles big brands use to grow, made simple and put at your fingertips, from social posts in your own voice to a plan that brings customers back. See below.

Marketing That Brings the Right People to Your Door

Great work deserves to be found. We help you build a simple, steady marketing plan, guided by the principles in The Hawke Method by Erik Huberman, so the right customers find you, remember you, and trust you.

Get found

We set you up in front of people already looking for what you make, starting with your Google listing and the places that fit your work.

A pitch people can repeat

We help you sum up what you do in a few memorable words, so happy customers can pass you along.

Don't let interest slip away

Quick replies, friendly follow-up emails, and an easy way to buy or book turn "maybe" into "yes."

Earn trust

Reviews, testimonials, and local partners like galleries and shops who vouch for you do the convincing for you.

Keep customers coming back

New-work announcements, collector lists, and simple thank-yous bring past buyers back again.

Spend wisely

Start with small tests and keep only what actually brings you customers.

Less time figuring out marketing, more time at the bench.

One business line. Every message caught.

Most small studios lose work in the gaps: a voicemail you meant to return, a text buried under family chats, an email that slid off the first page. The systems we set up close those gaps. It's the same setup More Time to Craft runs on every day.

Want to see it work? Call or text our business line (tap "Show phone / email" below) and watch how your message is handled.

IT Services For Any Technical Project

IT is its own service, separate from our office-help setup, so you're welcome to hire us just for tech work. Rob has spent more than 15 years as an IT systems engineer and consultant, and he can take on nearly any tech problem or project your business has.

Help is done remotely, billed hourly and quoted up front. Larger jobs get an estimate before any work starts.

What it's worth

How it works

  1. A studio chat

Free, about 20 minutes. Tell us what eats your time and what you already use: Square, Etsy, QuickBooks, a paper calendar, whatever it is.

  2. We build it in your name

About three weeks. Your books, calendar, customer list and inbox rules, all in accounts you own. We test every task with you before anything goes live.

  3. We hand it off; it's all yours

Your system sends everyday replies on rules you set; contracts and big decisions wait for your OK. You're the boss and don't depend on us, though we're here for support if you want it.

Built for people who make things

A week with her new system ILLUSTRATIVE EXAMPLE — NOT A REAL CLIENT

Maya throws pots in a RAD studio. On Monday a collector emails about a custom dinner set while she's at the wheel. Soon after, her system sends a warm reply with her commission questions and books a studio visit on her calendar for Thursday. Tuesday's market sales from Square flow into her books on their own. When a gallery invoice hits 30 days late, her system sends the polite reminder she approved. Friday, three Instagram post drafts made from her own glaze photos are waiting for her OK. Her evenings stay hers.

Starting a new business? We set it up the right way from day one.

A strong start saves cleanup later. We guide you through each step of setting up your business and build an organized, connected back office from the beginning. These are the same foundations Rob has been putting in place for his own business:

Working for someone else in the trades? See how to go out on your own, with a free starter checklist.

Once it's built, we hand it over and it runs on its own, with the same everyday tools our existing clients use, and support from us if you ever want it.

We help you set things up. We don't give legal or tax advice, and we don't replace a lawyer or CPA.

Questions

Is this a robot?

No, it's Rob, with good tools. I design and build your system myself and test it with you before it goes live. It uses modern software to draft replies, sort receipts and keep your calendar straight, all in your own accounts. You set the rules and approve what matters, and you can always see exactly what was sent and why. If you ever want help with it, I'm the one you call.

Will my customers know I'm getting help?

Your system's replies go out in your name and your voice, on rules you approve, so they sound like you.

Do I have to change my tools?

Usually not. We work with what you have, like Square, Etsy, Shopify, QuickBooks, Wave or a Google calendar, and only suggest changes if they'll save you real time.

Who owns my data? Is it safe?

You do. Everything lives in accounts in your name. If you leave, you keep everything we set up. Read our privacy policy.

Do you replace my accountant or do my taxes?

No. Your system keeps clean books and gives your accountant a tidy year-end package.

Will you move money between my bank accounts?

No. If you're switching banks, we set up the new account with a small opening deposit, and you move the larger balances yourself, so your money never passes through us.

About Rob

Rob Schwartz, founder of More Time to Craft

Our mission: To serve the owner by lifting the weight of running a business, with a trusted, professional system that's yours, gets the work done without micromanagement, and leaves you in charge.

I'm Rob Schwartz, and I live here in Asheville. I have a Bachelor of Science in Business with a focus in accounting, and more than 15 years as an IT systems engineer. Today I'm the principal engineer leading data science, data engineering and reporting, along with the infrastructure, on a highly secure Microsoft Fabric implementation in Azure, including the access controls, documentation and systems a large company's finance team runs on. Now I bring that same care to small businesses. I build the system that keeps your books, calendar and follow-ups running, set it up to keep your information safe, and write everything down so you're never left guessing. You get more time for the work you love.

I also help drive new customers to your business. I've studied the award-winning work Hawke Media has done for its clients and adopted that approach, as Erik Huberman lays it out in The Hawke Method, as part of how we help you grow. Although Erik is a personal friend I met in business school, we're independent and not affiliated with or endorsed by Hawke Media.
